Jaguar’s I-Pace vehicles are now being tested by Waymo on the public road.
in the March 2018 agreed the Google sister Waymo and the manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover, the purchase of I-Pace models for the Waymo fleet. The first three models were still in July last year delivered. Waymo is now testing the automated vehicles on the public road.
The I-Pace is an e-car and extends the range of Waymo, which so far has been mainly Chrysler Pacifica of Fiat-Chrysler in use. The vehicles are converted in Michigan and brought to level-4. Just last June, Waymo has 62,000 pieces ordered by Fiat-Chrysler.
Waymo ordered 20,000 pieces from Jaguar Land Rover and the first ones were now on public roads in Moutain View in the US state California sighted. There, the Waymo parent company, Alphabet aka Google, has its headquarters. Apparently, such a car including a security person was spotted on board. Waymo has meanwhile confirmed the tests. From next year the vehicles are to be put into service.
The I-Pace vehicles could possibly be deployed in California, where Waymo wants to offer his robot taxi service to Arizona. The first vehicles from Jaguar hit the terrain and Waymo already announced that they would like to offer the service in California. However, there are still legal difficulties in this regard, because you may offer such a service so far only free of charge. The only one currently has approval Zoox receive.
