On-Demand with Pooling | Moovel pilot project in Karlsruhe

On the occasion of the IT-Trans fair Moovel offers together with the Karlsruher Verkehrsverbund an on-demand pooling service.

Over three days, you can use the transport service for free, which is part of the IT trans Karlsruhe which is also a test field for autonomous driving. The car service is organized by the Mercedes Benz offshoot moovel,

The project will be started in cooperation with the KVV (Karlsruher Verkehrsverbund) and will run for three days from the 6th of March. Of the On-Demand Service is bookable via app “KVV.mobil” and the system bundles trips in the common direction (pooling). In addition, the public transport offer will be included in the offer.

The vehicles are vans of the Mercedes-Benz V-Class, which pick up the passengers near their position (on-demand). For this one has defined 100 stops in the city center. There is no timetable, but other passengers through the pooling. And the shuttle service is limited to the time from 8 o’clock to 20 o’clock. Also in Berlin Daimler has started an on-demand service with the V-Class with Via.

Moovel’s algorithm also enables demand analysis so that fleet capacity can be increased according to the people being transported.

Recently Bosch the car pooling startup SPLT purchased with a corresponding algorithm and belongs to the development of autonomous driving in the Daimler camp.
