“Disappointment and anger” are the words used by elected CFDT at the end of a meeting of the Strategic Joint Committee organized Friday, November 15 by the management of the PSA group in Paris. The aim was to present the Medium Term Plan (MTP) for all of the group’s sites.
“The employees of the Rennes la Janais site, worried about the future of their jobs, were waiting for the management to announce a project for a vehicle to be produced with production volumes that would saturate the facilities.” Nothing on the horizon for the automotive sector in Brittany, which still represents around 8000 employees. ”
The anxiety and uncertainty of the employees is part of the merger between PSA and the Fiat-Chrysler Group. According to the CFDT, more than one vehicle will be manufactured in Rennes. “Currently the 3087 employees produce the C5 Aircross and the 5008 but the latter vehicle is being offloaded to the Sochaux plant. In 2020, only the C5 Aircross will be produced at the Rennes la Janais site with all the associated risks of a single-product production. “
“Despite the success of the C5 Aircross, the CFDT is aware that by 2023 the production volumes will be insufficient.” Employees would like to be able to produce a new model by 2022.
The union recalls efforts to maintain productivity on the site. “In recent years, employees have been in great demand, particularly with competitiveness agreements to safeguard jobs, and local authorities have also been helping to ensure the long-term future of the automotive industry in the Brittany region. to be in vain! “
