Tesla, Streetscooter, BMW: For which car brands the most electric premiums are paid

Dusseldorf The federal government wants to promote the purchase of electrical and semi-electric vehicles. That’s why in July 2016 she decided to pay out additional state bonus for cars with battery, fuel cell and plug-in hybrids – also called environmental bonus.

For purely battery electric vehicles, this bonus amounted to 4,000 euros, half of which was taken over by the federal government and the automobile manufacturers. For plug-in hybrids – cars that have both a combustion engine and an electric drive on board – the environmental bonus was 3000 euros. However, both cars had a maximum price of 60,000 euros. If the value of the car was above it, the government bonus was dropped.

The sticking point: The premium was previously only partially successful. On January 1, 2019, about 83,200 electric cars were in Germany and thus far less than the targeted million electric cars, which should drive on German roads until 2020.

Now the cover should be omitted. In the future, expensive electric cars will also be given a purchase premium. At the summit in Berlin at the beginning of November 2019 it was also decided Extend and increase the payout of the bonus by 2025,

For cars with a list price below 40,000 euros to flow 6000 euros for pure electric cars and 4500 euros for plug-in hybrids. For higher-priced cars, 5,000 euros (electric cars) and 4,000 euros (plug-in hybrids) are to be paid out.

Federal funding of 2.09 billion euros is planned for funding from 2020 onwards. According to information from the Federal Office of Economics and Export Control (BAFA), some manufacturers benefit significantly more than others. An overview of which manufacturers have received the premiums in 2019:

5th place – StreetScooter – 11,224 requested purchase premiums

The delivery van of Deutsche Post is purely electric on the road and thus quite successful. However, the electric premium for the small manufacturer is not necessarily a blessing. This is disadvantageous in the price-sensitive transport segment.
