New Delhi: SN Burman, Vice President (Sales, Marketing & Service-Passenger vehicles) at Tata Motors has resigned from his position, source close to the development told ETAuto.

SN Burman, a Maruti Suzuki veteran has joined Indian automobile major Tata Motors in 2015. He was reporting to Mayank Pareek, President, Passenger Vehicle Business, Tata Motors. Mayank Pareek, President PVBU will assume direct charge of PVBU Sales and Marketing function until further notice.

Burman, an IIT graduate has served 23 plus years at Maruti Suzuki India. In his last assignment with Maruti Suzuki, he held important portfolios as VP-sales for commercial channel, pre-Owned car business and rural and institutional sales.

This was the second-high profile movement from Maruti to Tata Motors after Mayank Pareek quit Maruti Suzuki after over two-decade stint last year.

Looking at developments and actual performance in PV segment, the company also made some changes to re-vitalise and re-energise the team and dealer fraternity.

“Its time to rise to the occasion and deliver performance with a single-minded focus. In this context I would like to announce the following organizational changes in PVBU with immediate effect,” the carmaker stated in a letter to the employees.

The Head Domestic Sales role is temporarily suspended and we will have an interim structure with a Head Sales – North & East and a Head Sales – South & West reporting to Mayank, the letter further mentioned.

In another change, Sheel Sagar is appointed as Head Sales – North & East and Amit Kamat as Head Sales – South & West in addition to his current responsibilities at Head Sales Support and S&OP.

Earlier this week, Tarun Garg, Maruti Suzuki India’s executive director (marketing, parts & logistic) resigned from his position and on Wednesday joined Korean carmaker Hyundai Motor India as Director, sales and marketing.

While Hero MotoCorp sales & aftersales head Sanjay Bhan also quit from his position and his last working day is on December 13. He is likely to join a start up.
