SsangYong Motors UK has added Broadstone Cars to its UK dealer network.
The dealership will retail SsangYong’s range of 4x4s and SUVs from its premises in Bridgnorth.
Broadstone Ssangyong, a family run business with over 50 years of trading, is situated in the historic town of Bridgnorth in Shropshire bordering the West Midlands, Staffordshire, Herefordshire, Cheshire, and Worcestershire with easy access from the M54.
Nick Laird, managing director of SsangYong Motor UK said: “Broadstone has a well-established reputation for excellent service. The growth of SsangYong means that we are attracting strong dealers from across the UK and Broadstone is no exception.
“We are delighted to welcome them on board.”
Tony Hargreaves, dealer principal at Broadstone SsangYong, added: “We were attracted to the SsangYong brand by the quality of the product along with the 7 year/ 150,000-mile warranty.
“The all new Korando is a revelation and with electric vehicles in the pipeline the SsangYong range will open up a whole new market for us.”
The brand is ramping up its recruitment in order to attract new players to its network and aims to have 90 dealers in place at the close of 2020.
In October it posted pre-tax losses of -£8.3m on turnover of £64.2m in 2018. The company generated -£9.7m losses on £60.8m turnover the prior year.
Challenges it faced in 2018 included the switch away from diesel and some stocking issues, now resolved.
“We continued to address the key challenges for the business in 2018, the results for which include a number of legacy issues.
“These were addressed fully by the end of the year, including the costs of realignment of stock mix and levels to be in line with market.”
SsangYong is pushing hard to build the brand in the UK, spending £11.6m in distribution during the year.
