Auto detects vandalism by itself

The supplier Continental has developed a new sensor that detects and identifies minor touches.

At the upcoming CES 2020 will be Continental also introduce a new sensor for the Autonomous Park was developed, but also recognizes vandalism. The Contact Sensor System (CoSSy) can detect even the slightest touch of the vehicle, such as touching a vehicle or a person at walking pace.

The concept, according to the supplier, is to make automated parking safer. The sensor reacts to sound and stops the automated parking process as soon as something gets in the way. The range is wider than the near range.

The installation takes place at up to twelve different locations. It also has a redundancy in the signal transmission. So you could also see the condition of the road and aquaplaning, based on splashing noise.

In addition to light touches during parking, the sensor also detects when the car is scratched. Then you can make appropriate recordings or activate the alarm. Also, the driver’s escape when parking could be enlightened in this way.

Since it is a sound sensor, authorized people are recognized by the voice for vehicle control or approaching emergency vehicles. Thanks to the so-called Doppler effect, one can also identify the direction from which the emergency vehicle is approaching. You can also set it so that the vehicle maintainers knock to open the car.
