TORONTO / IRVINE, Calif. (Dec. 18, 2019) — The Automotive Parts Manufacturers’ Association (APMA) is pleased to announce Karma Automotive, Southern California-based high-tech mobility incubator and creator of luxury electric vehicles, as the newest partner to join the APMA AVIN Demonstration Zone’s Connected and Autonomous Vehicle (CAV) technology development program.
As a supplier to others who need its engineering, design, customization and manufacturing resources to speed their product development, Karma brings their talent and expertise along with their 2020 Revero GT luxury electric vehicle to support and showcase Ontario’s auto tech startup ecosystem.
“We believe Karma’s luxury electric market niche is a perfect incubator and proving ground for APMA’s technology development programs,” said Dr. Lance Zhou, CEO of Karma Automotive. “We will develop partnerships with industry associations, startups, academia, companies, service providers, and developers who can benefit from Karma’s five technology ecosystems that are supported by fully certified products already on the road, a fully-operational manufacturing facility, and a complete line of engineering and design resources and key components that can be used to bring products to market faster.”
“APMA’s work in managing the CAV Demo Zone as part of the Government of Ontario’s $80 million Autonomous Vehicle Innovation Network (AVIN) will benefit greatly with the addition of Karma’s 2020 Revero GT to our demo vehicle fleet,” says Warren Ali, APMA’s Vice President of Innovation. “Together we’re excited to explore new technologies that can be integrated into future vehicle platforms and solutions.”
The collaboration’s initial work will be focused on ADAS and Autonomous Driving systems. To bring these Autonomous Driving visions to reality, APMA and Karma have announced that LeddarTech, an APMA member and world-leading solid-state LiDAR platform developer, is partnering with them to help grow Karma’s ADAS and autonomous capabilities.
Karma’s pioneering spirit and 2020 Revero GT, LeddarTech’s CES 2020 Innovation Award Honoree LeddarTM Pixell, and the APMA’s nearly 70 years of experience and ten years of tech leadership will pave the way for a successful partnership demonstrating advanced technology solutions that drive value and results.
CES 2020 attendees can visit booth #1025 inside the Westgate Las Vegas for an up-close look at APMA and LeddarTech’s LeddarTM Pixell cocoon technology in the 2020 Karma Revero GT, and learn more about how APMA can provide partners with solutions to address challenges and pursue new opportunities.
