According to the latest survey conducted by the Spanish Driver Observatory (Ducit), created by the RACE, nine out of ten young drivers belonging to the so-called millennial generation already own their own vehicle or intend to buy it. This survey, which includes responses from 2,000 drivers between 18 and 36 years old, calls into question some of the predictions that young drivers would opt more for other mobility alternatives, sometimes more sustainable, than for the vehicle in ownership. However, the RACE now corroborates that this trend is not so clear.
It is reflected in the Ducit study that the preferences of these new drivers are leaning towards the ecological engines. In this way, hybrid cars are to which this type of young people show more predisposition (66% recognize that a car with this technology would probably be bought). After the hybridization, the electric cars (with a 50% reception by the interviewees) are the preferred ones. Behind are traditional fuels, diesel (with 44%) and gasoline (with 43%).
Autonomous driving, also in question
In addition, the result reflects that 83% of Spaniards between 25 and 36 years old drive all or almost every day and three out of four recognize that they like to drive, something that quarantines, as the RACE believes, the options that autonomous driving ends up imposing itself. In fact, less than half of these young people believe that driving is a reality in a few years.
Leaving a bit of the automotive niche, this Ducit study also addresses other issues such as the concerns of people who understand themselves in the millennial generation. In this respect, the quality of employment (96%) and unemployment (88%) are the concepts that most arouse them, followed by the sustainability of the planet, family and work conciliation, gender equality or terrorism.
