The BVG ended the autonomous e-shuttle project in the north of the city on Lake Tegel.
For a few months, the manufacturer’s autonomous e-shuttle was EasyMile in Berlin Tegel on road. Now the project with the name “See-Meile” has ended.
The test run was ended on Friday, like that BVG announced. However, it should actually be extended until February. Instead, the project will now be evaluated in February. This was quite positive. The special thing about it was that the shuttle operated in public transport.
The reason for the early end was that it was not possible to adapt the vehicle in time for wheelchair users. This should be coordinated from the outset in future projects. Also in the USA, more precisely in the M City, one had to Bus initially suitable for the disabled be done before he was allowed to continue.
The autonomous e-shuttle ran on the 1.2-kilometer route without having an accident. Overall, the vehicle drove 4,200 kilometers at a low speed of a maximum of 15 kilometers per hour. However, there were always obstacles that led to braking. This was recorded by the on-board personnel and partly overridden.
