If you’re looking for a track-focused yet still street-legal sports car with overwhelming levels of performance and Le Mans looks, you may want to consider this creation from the United Kingdom. Created by the same company that built the Ultima GTR supercar, the new Ultima RS can send those same chills up your spine!
New Flagship Supercar
The Ultima RS is essentially the new flagship model of the Ultima Sports car line, which also offers the Evolution coupe and convertible. It builds on the carmaker’s experience and expertise in building high-performance sports car.
Underpinning the new Ultima RS is a fully updated spaceframe with a fully welded roll cage. It features double unequal-length wishbones as well as fully adjustable coil spring dampers. Interestingly, the front ride height of the Ultima RS can also be adjusted through an optional hydraulic lift kit.
Design Inspired By Group C Le Mans
In terms of design, the new Ultima RS is inspired by Group C Le Mans race cars. It is quite a work of engineering, with a focus on downforce, aerodynamics, airflow and cooling. This is evident on several key elements including its chassis-mounted front splitter, massive rear diffuser, side scoops, rear front dive planes, quad wheel arch vents and NACA ducts.
Furthermore, the 2,030-lbs RS features a full-width massive carbon fiber rear wing with nine different angles of attack (adjustment positions). Just like the rear wing, other aerodynamic elements are made from strong yet lightweight carbon fiber.
True Driver Car With 1,200 Hp Max Output
As for power, Ultima Sports only employs GM crate engines for the new Ultima RS. Customers may choose from Chevrolet LS mills (LS3, LS7 and LSA) or LT units (LT1, LT4 and LT5). The most powerful of these is the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 LT5 engine, which in this application is tuned to deliver more than 1,200 hp of output, thereby bringing the Ultima RS into hypercar territory.
In this configuration, the LT5 V8 Ultima RS can sprint from nil to 60 mph in just 2.3 seconds and can do a standing quarter-mile in 9.2 seconds at 156 mph. With power sent to the rear wheels only via a six speed manual shift gearbox, the LT5 V8 Ultima RS has a top speed of more than 250 mph.
Self-Assembly Or Turnkey?
The new Ultima RS can be optioned as a self-assembly package (22 weeks lead time) or a turnkey car (more than two years). So, if you can’t wait for a complete supercar, Ultima will let you assemble it yourself.
