CEO Herbert Diess wants platform for small electric cars.
Volkswagen wants a significantly cheaper generation of Electric cars launch. The models should have their own architecture and if possible go on sale from 2023. CEO Herbert Diess wants to make it possible with the new architecture to also offer small cars electrically and profitably, report participants. The cars are intended for customers who buy combustion models such as the Polo or even the small Up today.
VW wants to launch the ID.3 in the summer as the first real electric model. Less the environmental premium, the model in the entry-level version should cost a good 23,000 euros. The company says that the electrically powered small cars should be offered at the price of combustion engines, if possible. However, this is considered very ambitious.
