Porsche and Cadillac are already testing it in the USA: the car subscription. Now a German car maker is moving in Germany. Daimler is offering its customers a flat rate for premium vehicles under the name “Mercedes Me Flexperience”.

In the future, car enthusiasts will have the opportunity to rent twelve different four-segment models per year – A, C, E and S classes. How high the monthly rate for the flat rate fails, reveals Daimler not yet. But the fee should include insurance, maintenance, tire replacement, repair and a total annual mileage of up to 36,000 kilometers.

For the time being, the pilot project will start with the two largest Mercedes dealers in Germany: Beresa (Münster) and Lueg (Bochum and Essen). How long it is tested and when customers can book the car flatrate throughout Germany, is currently unknown.

And this is how the car flat rate works: customers conclude a contract via Mercedes-Benz Bank. The rest runs on an app: The car enthusiasts choose the application one of the classes, according to which the monthly rate is measured. The customers can also freely decide on engine, paint and interior design. You have the option to change class at any time during the contract period. Even the keys for the vehicle should be online.

In Atlanta, competitor Porsche is already testing one Flatrate for sports cars: For monthly rates between $ 2,000 and $ 3,000, customers can rent vehicles there, with a similar model Cadillac is trying to attract customers in New York, Dallas and Los Angeles.

Daimler’s new offer is aimed in particular at a younger target group, which often can not afford to buy their own car, but should already be introduced to the premium vehicles. This is also supported by the fact that all booking processes run via apps.

It is likely that the carmaker later sold the vehicles as used cars to dealers or employees.
