The Chinese automaker Geely wants to purchase semi-autonomous systems for the Chinese market from Sweden.
First, in this context, the company affiliation must be cleared up. Autoliv is a supplier from Sweden, especially for Volvo, Volvo belongs to Geely, which also recently Mercedes Benz and Volvo Trucks have entered. Volvo also has teamed with Autoliv Zenuity founded, about which one wants to market the autonomous driving technique.
For the Chinese market Geely has now ordered from the companies a software for the control of assistance systems These are systems for the partial autonomy – Level 3, Some manufacturers skip the partial autonomy because it needs the attention of the travelers. At Zenuity, differentiation into supervised and unattended automation is preferred.
The inattention already led to one deadly accident, what the brand Tesla accompanied with a reputational damage. There were warnings the technique to introduce too soon and there was one RAND study, which recommends an early introduction to save lives.
Zenuity now provides the software for integrating and evaluating Autoliv sensors in Geely vehicles. Concretely, one plans radar– and camera systems, as well as control devices for the assistance systems to deliver.
General Motors integrated in this regard a monitoring of the travelers in his vehicles with the system Super Cruisewhich also belongs to the partial autonomy.
