The ‘rent a car’ warns that the decision of the United Kingdom will aggravate up to 80% the fall in income

MADRID, Jul 29 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The National Federation of Rental Vehicles With and Without Driver (Feneval) has warned that the decision of the United Kingdom to establish a quarantine of fourteen days for people who come from Spain could aggravate up to 80% the fall in income expected for This exercise.

Feneval indicated that the organization’s estimate for this year contemplated a collapse of 70% of the sector’s turnover due to the coronavirus crisis, a situation that would worsen by ten additional percentage points, up to 80%, due to the measure taken by the British Government regarding Spain.

“This is a blow to Spanish tourism that would mean losing some 18 million tourists, as the British represent 21.6% of the total entry of international travelers to our borders,” said the organization.

For this reason, the federation highlighted that, after three months of confinement that caused a 90% drop in the ‘rent a car’ business, the sector needs to transmit confidence to travelers who visit Spain to conceive it as a safe country.

With this objective, Feneval has become the first organization to apply ‘blockchain’ to the ‘Covid-19 Protected Space’ seal, with the aim of transmitting security and confidence to administrations and tourists in the face of measures such as those taken by the United Kingdom, Norway or France.

The entity indicated that, to achieve this distinctive, the rental companies have to pass the training, validation and audit of TÜV SÜD, which, through ‘blockchain’ technology, guarantees the highest level of transparency.

The president of Feneval, Juan Luis Barahona, pointed out that “blockchainizing” the seal represents the “safest” means to validate compliance with this protocol and shows the organization’s commitment to offering a safe service to national and foreign tourists.
