Alfa Romeo, founded in Milan in 1910 and a Fiat subsidiary since 1986, is particularly famous for its motorsport successes and design classics of the past. The economic present is rather dreary, and recent attempts at revival are unsuccessful. Two years ago, just 120,000 Alfas were sold, in 2019, according to industry observers, it should have been less than 100,000 – instead of the originally planned tripling soon.
