Engines and transmissions: PSA invests in Opel plants abroad

From 2019 on, three-cylinder gasoline engines are to be built in the factories in Tychy, Poland and in Szentgotthárd, Hungary. In Austria, gearbox production is being expanded.

The French carmaker PSA invests in several Opel plants outside Germany. So to be built from 2019 on in the factories Tychy (Poland) and Szentgotthárd (Hungary) three-cylinder gasoline engines, as the group announced on Wednesday. The Austrian company Aspern is investing to produce additional quantities of the MB6 manual transmission. The components are to be installed in vehicles of all PSA brands.

The PSA Group wants to build electric motors from next year in Trémery, France. For this purpose, a joint venture with the Japanese company Nidec had been agreed.
