Electric truck startup Bollinger Motors has upgraded its battery capacity on its flagship B1 vehicle with a new 120-kWh battery pack, up from 60 kWh and 100-kWh options.
The updated spec has been revealed in a new showreel, titled Bollinger B1 electric truck making of.
In the 11-minute clip, narrator Robert Bollinger, founder of Bollinger Company, describes his early upbringing drawing car logos and prototypes. After that, the team describes its vision for an off-road and on-road electric utility vehicle with mute engines in the wild, more functional storage space, and off-the-grid powering capabilities.
The video segues into individual testimonials by team members who describe their individual and collective responsibilities in the manufacturing, engineering, and design process for the B1.
Specifications include a 4.5-second 0-to 60 time, top speed of 27 miles per hour, all-wheel drive, and a dual electric powertrain running 120-kWh for a 200-mile range, a 66-percent range increase from the previous iteration.
The B1 also doubles as a power source for remote, off-the-grid locations. It uses an all-aluminum chassis with a 3-box design, applying equal weight distribution from front and back and from side to side.
The Bollinger B1 first premiered at the Classic Car Club in Manhattan in Ju.. 2017, billing itself as the “world’s first all-electric, all-wheel drive, off/ on road sport utility truck.” Bollinger Motors is a four-year-old company, starting with only seven employees out of a renovated car repair shop in Hobart, New York.
At the moment, Bollinger Motor’s goal is to hit the market within the next two years. They are currently in the process of exploring manufacturing options with several potential partners, with no word yet on who they are.
