MADRID, 25 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has launched in Spain the fifth generation of its Caddy model, which arrives as an urban delivery car, kombi, family minivan and camper and, for the first time, is based on the Volkswagen group’s modular transverse platform (MQB), which it is also used in models like the Golf.
As the German firm has indicated, the new Caddy debuts numerous “innovative” technologies and assistance systems, such as Travle Assist and the new cornering braking function, which make driving “easier and safer”.
The model is already available on the market as a kombi, minivan and as an urban delivery van. Starting in 2021, the Caddy California will arrive, the camper-version successor to the Caddy Beach, which will optionally be equipped with a mini-kitchen, panoramic sunroof and a new tent.
The new platform of the model allows it to have a longer wheelbase, going from 2.68 meters to 2.75 meters, which gives it proportions with a more dynamic appearance.
The interior of the fifth generation of the Caddy features a high-tech digitized cockpit and touch controls. The vehicle has new driving assistance systems such as Travel Assist, which offers assisted driving at any speed, or the redesigned multifunction steering wheel that equips capacitive sensors.
The car is available with diesel engines between 75 and 122 horsepower, as well as a 114 horsepower gasoline engine. Other natural gas engines and a plug-in hybrid system will follow.
The new Caddy is now available in Spain for a price starting at 19,300 euros.
