- New Sport Line grade introduces sophisticated styling option for CR-V
- CR-V receives new e:HEV branding to reinforce its place in Honda’s e:TECHNOLOGY product line-up
- CR-V and all-new Jazz are key to Honda’s commitment to rollout electrified technology across its mainstream European vehicle line up by 2022
- Upgrades across the CR-V e:HEV range include new alloy-wheel design and interior style enhancements
Honda is increasing the appeal of its 2021 CR-V line-up with the addition of a new Sport Line grade, offering a sporty and sophisticated styling choice. The refreshed CR-V range, which features Honda’s advanced hybrid technology as standard, also receives new e:HEV badging to align it with the all-new Jazz e:HEV in the brand’s e:TECHNOLOGY product line-up.
The new Sport Line grade is introduced alongside a number of updates on all variants of the fifth generation CR-V. Interior trim is updated with a modern silver finish applied to elements on the centre console, door cards and accent line that sweeps across the lower dashboard above the glove compartment. A new stylish 18” alloy wheel design and privacy glass is now available on Elegance (SE) models and wireless phone charging has been added to top grade Executive (EX) models.
The new stand-out Sport Line grade – available in two paint finishes, Crystal Black or Platinum White – incorporates a number of darkened style accents to broaden the appeal of the CR-V e:HEV. Stylish black elements include the headlight trim, wing mirrors and window surrounds, with a black finish also applied to the alloy wheels and wheel nuts.
Sport Line models are further distinguished by a dark chrome finish around the fog lights and on the grille, with accompanying accents on the bumper, door and tailgate. Privacy glass is included as standard for both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive Sport Line variants, to complete the sophisticated look.
Inside, the Sport Line models benefit from enhancements that increase the premium feel and superior quality of the latest CR-V formula. Black wood panels replace the silver interior trim on the console, door panels and above the glove compartment, complemented by a piano black finish applied to the instrument panel, infotainment and climate control surrounds. The steering wheel trim, gear shifter and door handles also receive the piano black treatment, with black headlining, pillar trim and leather seats completing the Sport Line experience.
The addition of the CR-V to the e:TECHNOLOGY family follows the launch of the new Jazz e:HEV and Honda e in 2020, each contributing towards Honda’s commitment to electrify 100% of its mainstream European line-up by 2022. In addition to the new e:HEV branding, CR-V models also receive a blue-outlined Honda badge, highlighting their low emissions credentials.
The CR-V e:HEV retains Honda’s responsive and highly-efficient advanced hybrid powertrain technology, first introduced to the CR-V in 2019. The Intelligent Multi-Mode Drive (i-MMD) technology comprises two electric motors, an Atkinson-cycle petrol engine, an innovative transmission and three intelligent driving modes to deliver high levels of real-world efficiency and refinement.
The CR-V e:HEV is equipped with an efficient 2.0-litre i-VTEC petrol engine, with peak power of 107 kW (145 PS) at 6,200 rpm, and a powerful 135 kW (184 PS) electric motor with torque of 315 Nm (232 lb ft). Its fuel-efficient hybrid system produces CO2 emissions from 151g/km (WLTP combined cycle) and fuel economy of 6.6l/100km (WLTP combined cycle) on front-wheel drive models, and CO2 emissions from 161g/km (WLTP combined cycle) and fuel economy of 7.1l/100km (WLTP combined cycle) on all-wheel drive models. The petrol-electric powertrain can propel the CR-V e:HEV from zero to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds in FWD specification and in 8.9 seconds for the AWD model, with a top speed of 180 km/h (112 mph).
The refreshed CR-V e:HEV continues to benefit from a sophisticated chassis design that ensures the car delivers an engaging driving experience and exemplary ride comfort. Its lightweight and rigid construction features a low centre of gravity, with refined front and rear suspension systems and variable-ratio steering. Honda’s latest all-wheel drive technology – the ‘Real Time AWD with Intelligent Control System™’ – together with increased ground clearance, gives all-wheel drive models genuine all-terrain capability.
In line with Honda’s ‘Safety for Everyone’ philosophy, the CR-V’s class-leading suite of passive and active safety systems continue to be avaliable as standard for all variants. The strong platform provides the foundation for exceptional safety performance, with an ‘All Directions Collision Safety’ concept. The platform design incorporates Honda’s exclusive next-generation ACE™ (Advanced Compatibility Engineering) body structure, which employs a network of connected structural elements to distribute crash energy more evenly.
The passive safety features on the CR-V are complemented by the Honda Sensing™ suite of active safety and driver assist technologies, which is among the most comprehensive package of safety technologies in its class.
