Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus, currently undergoing the first shakedown test for the first of their pair of SCG 007 Hypercars at Vallelunga will miss the opening round of the WEC season at Portimao after ongoing travel and logistical restrictions delayed key parts of the build and homologation processes for their car.
The team’s principal concern is understood to surround the locking in of the final homologation specification of the car when it first races, and an inability for SCG to schedule the 30-hour test that the team require to satisfy themselves about that final spec. before Portimao on 4 April.
DSC understands that the first possible date for that test falls just days after the Portimao race.
As for doubts that SCG will field a two-car entry at Le Mans – Jim Glickenhaus was blunt in response to the straight question:
“You can bet your kidneys that we’ll be there with two cars!”
