Jaguar Land Rover has announced that it is gearing up its back-end operations to support the launch of its first all-electric vehicle in India – Jaguar I-Pace – which is slated for a market introduction on March 23.
As a result, the company says that it is putting its efforts to supplement the electric model by readying EV infrastructure at its retail and aftersales outlets in metro cities and key urban hubs across India.
Twenty-two retail outlets across 19 cities are now EV-ready in terms of infrastructure as well as sales and service staff, the company said in a press statement. Retail staffers have been extensively trained by JLR with in-depth and dedicated courses on EVs, thus, enabling them to cater to all requirements and customer queries.
Furthermore, the company has installed over 35 DC fast chargers at these outlets, with plans to increase their numbers. In addition, JLR customers will also be able to charge the Jaguar I-Pace using Tata Power’s EZ Charge Network which has over 200 DC fast charging points installed at strategic locations such as malls, offices, residential complexes, and highways, across the country.
According to Rohit Suri, director, JLR India, “An electric vehicle will not just be a new mobility solution, but owning one will also be a new ownership experience. We recognise this and have worked relentlessly with our retailers to ensure that owning an EV is truly a hassle-free experience for our customers.”
The Jaguar I-Pace will come with a 480km range, 90kWh lithium-ion battery pack which will be supplied with a 7.4kW AC wall-mounted charger by the company. Owners will be able to recharge the car from a flat battery to 100 percent in about 10 hours from regular AC charging or in 40 minutes for a charge to up to 80 percent by a DC fast charger. The Jaguar I-Pace will go up against the Mercedes-Benz EQC already on sale in India.
