New Delhi: The electric vehicle startup Oye! Rickshaw has launched its battery swapping platform and targets to deploy 10,000 Li-Ion batteries by December 2021.
This announcement comes on the heels of a successful battery swapping pilot project which started in December 2020.
The company said it crossed 1 lakh swap km inless than 3 months. It claims to be the fastest player to cross this milestone in the country and also with respect to global benchmarks such as NIO (500,000 swaps in 3 years).
The EV company has built and created a full-stack energy services platform that leverages the battery, charging and digital technology to create a ubiquitous battery swap network, offering the driver-partners on-demand access.
Oye aims to tap the growing e-rickshaw market through its distributed battery swap network while delivering a broader socio-economic impact.
Mohit Sharma, founder, Oye! Rickshaw, said, “Oye! Rickshaw impacts the real Bharat, enabling mobility for all. By introducing swapping, we are significantly reducing downtime of our e-rickshaws and thus adding more commute hours for customers and more money into the pockets of our driver-partners. This marks the beginning of a journey towards becoming a major connected electric vehicle player focused on mass micro mobility.”
