Hubject is pleased to announce its collaboration with Telekom Deutschland GmbH. The telecommunications giant is going among the eMobility providers. E-car drivers will receive a uniform, nationwide charging rate from Telekom starting in mid-December. This will be made possible by the eRoaming network intercharge operated by Hubject.
Berlin, December 03, 2018- With the support of electric mobility specialist Hubject, Deutsche Telekom will soon be making drivers of electric cars a standardized offer available nationwide. Users of electricity-powered vehicles will be able to fill up with electricity throughout Germany at the same price with Deutsche Telekom. For this purpose, the technology group provides the “Telekom Ladestrom” app. This lists over 9,000 publicly accessible charging points throughout Germany. Each of these charging points can be used easily and via a single Telekom Ladestrom account. To ensure the highest possible coverage, Telekom, as an eMobility Service Provider (EMP), will connect with as many charging point providers as possible via the intercharge network operated by Hubject. This will provide end customers with maximum convenience and a uniform price. The new offer will start on a test basis for the time being and with a price of two cents per minute, regardless of the charging speed. It is expressly aimed at all electromobility users. Pre-registrations are now possible at www.telekom-ladestrom.de. Here, customers will also find all the information and, shortly, registration as well as links to download the app.
“We have a tradition as a technology driver. Electromobility is a technology of the future. We want to actively support its spread and provide our customers with a service offering for the whole of Germany. To make this a reality, we have teamed up with industry leader Hubject,” commented Marcella Gäb, Head of Product Management eMobility & Energy at Telekom Deutschland GmbH.
“We are delighted to be able to support Deutsche Telekom in its first steps as an eMobility provider. I am sure that such a well-known brand will give the topic a proper push,” says Christian Hahn, CEO Hubject.
What does that mean in practice?
Ms. Schmidt has purchased an electric car. She usually charges it at home. But sometimes she drives it further away and needs to charge on the road. There are over 9,000 charging stations in Germany for this purpose. However, these are operated by many different companies. But Ms. Schmidt wants to be able to recharge anywhere with just one account. To this end, Deutsche Telekom concludes contracts with charging station operators and thus offers Ms. Schmidt access to their charging stations at a uniform price. Billing takes place in the background via intercharge, Hubject’s eRoaming network.
