Bollinger’s Rolling Chassis Is A Coachbuilders Dream – CarBuzz

And there’s a chassis-cab B2, too.

Last year, electric vehicle startup Bollinger Motors lifted the wraps off the B1 SUV and B2 truck. Compared to the new wave of electric trucks and SUVs like the Rivian R1T and R1S, and Tesla Cybertruck, the B1 and B2 stand out thanks to their boxy, utilitarian designs, and outstanding off-road capability. Both models ride on Bollinger’s in-house developed E-Chassis electric platform that can accommodate battery packs up to 180 kWh, a dual-motor setup providing all-wheel drive, and independent front and rear suspension.

For commercial use, Bollinger is also offering a class 3 chassis cab version of the B2, as well as a rolling chassis dubbed Chass-E for other companies to use. While the B2 Chassis Cab was initially announced with AWD, Bollinger has confirmed it will also be available with rear-wheel and dual-rear-wheel drive.

The rear-wheel drive version starts at $70,000, while the dual rear-wheel and all-wheel drive variants start at $72,500 and $100,000 respectively. As for the rolling Chass-E, pricing starts at $55,000 with rear-wheel drive, $57,500 with dual rear-wheel drive, and $80,000 with all-wheel drive.

“There’s nothing on the market, or in development, like our All-Electric Class 3 work trucks. We’re proud that the B2CC is the only Class-3 electric chassis cab in development. With our new RWD and Dual RWD variants, we’ll be able to offer a whole range of options to commercial fleets looking to electrify. Our trucks kick ass and now they kick ass three ways! Now we’re making three versions to cover a wide range of needs for the commercial and government markets.”

Bollinger is offering the B2 Chassis Cab in both 2- and 4-door cabs with different wheelbase lengths and either a 105 kWh or 140 kWh battery pack providing up to 200 miles of range according to EPA estimates. A dual-electric motor setup produces a combined 614 horsepower and 668 lb-ft of torque, enabling the B2 Chassis Cab to accelerate from 0-60 mph 4.5 seconds and max out at 100 mph. Compared to combustion-powered chassis cab trucks, the B2 Chassis Cab will have much lower operating costs, making it an attractive option for commercial fleets.

According to Bollinger, third-party companies have already expressed interest in using the Chass-E skateboard platform for consumer trucks, defense vehicles, kit cars, airport tugs, emergency vehicles, and autonomous vehicles. With all-wheel drive, the B2 Chassis Cab has the same capabilities as a pickup truck, so it could be adapted into a fire rescue vehicle, for example. Deliveries for the Bollinger B2 Chassis Cab and the rolling Chass-e platform will start in 2022.
