The semiconductor shortage is putting German automotive suppliers under high pressure. The whole industry will run out of microchips “for several more months,” warned Bosch boss Volkmar Denner, presenting his annual results on Thursday. Caught between its own suppliers and car manufacturers , the world’s leading equipment manufacturer is now working hard to launch its second microchip factory in Germany.
Near three years after the laying of the first stone , the “high-tech” factory of Bosch in Dresden should be inaugurated “virtually” at the beginning of June. “After the first test phases, we plan to bring the first deliveries forward by three months, in September instead of December as initially planned,” Harald Kröger, member of the Bosch management board and responsible for the integration of systems in the “mobility” sector.
