Stuttgart In view of global delivery bottlenecks for important electronic components, thousands of employees at the car manufacturer Daimler are initially on short-time work. For the Mercedes plant in Bremen, an extension of short-time working was initially applied for until May 11, the group announced on Monday in Stuttgart on request.
Many employees at the Rastatt plant are left out for a little longer: Here, short-time work has been extended for some areas until the end of next week.
It remained unclear exactly how many employees are affected in each case. More than 12,000 people are employed in the Bremen plant and around 6,500 in Rastatt. In both plants, the employees were put on short-time work on April 23. In Rastatt, according to Daimler, some areas have since resumed work.
Excluded from the short-time work from the outset were employees in “strategic projects” and so-called basic functions in both plants, including Daimler in the areas of maintenance and supply as well as qualification topics.
