The Stuttgart district court has on Thursday the first claim for damages against the truck manufacturer Daimler negotiated for his involvement in the truck cartel. A recycling company from Halle an der Saale accused the group of having agreed prices with the other commercial vehicle manufacturers.

As a result, inter alia, the purchase of two trucks for the buyer incurred damage. The height of the plaintive enterprise did not amount at first. Daimler rejected the claim as unfounded.

The district court is expected to announce a decision on 18 May. Background of the dispute is the following: From 1997 to 2011 exchanged, according to the European Commission, the truck manufacturers MAN, Daimler, Volvo / Renault, DAF, Iveco and Scania information from each other.

It was about prices and the introduction of climate-friendly technology. The Brussels-based competition watchdogs rated this as a cartel and imposed fines totaling almost four billion euros. Daimler had to pay the highest individual fine of around one billion euros.
