2021 BMW 3 Series: this is the diesel access version … with 122 hp and hybridization!
The BMW 3 Series It is one of the most recognized sedans in the entire market. Undoubtedly, the Bavarian manufacturer has won over the public during all its generations, marking as a distinctive point its dynamic behavior, the quality of finish or the performance of its mechanics. As you can see, it is an object of desire among many consumers, so access versions never hurt to reduce the starting price and take the limelight away from other rivals –Audi A4, Jaguar XE, Lexus IS, Mercedes-Benz C-Class or Volvo S60-.
Today we would like to introduce you to BMW 316d, which incorporates a 122 hp two-liter diesel engine and is linked to a 48V mild hybridization system. This block is associated with the fantastic eight-speed automatic gearbox and shows surprising performance records: it transmits a maximum torque of 300 Nm – between 1,500 and 2,500 rpm – to the rear axle, accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 9 , 7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 207 km / h.

If the BMW 316d with 122 hp already puts out muscle when facing the stopwatch, when it comes to going through the pump it does not disappoint either. What’s more, we could say that consumption is frankly tight: barely 4.5 liters / 100 km in combined cycle due to the demanding WLTP protocol.
As you can see, this BMW 316d with 122 hp spreads much more than it initially seemed, and also adds another important advantage: its rate. If we take the French market as a reference, this version is available from 40,200 euros, which represents a saving of 2,150 euros compared to the BMW 318d with 150 hp. And be careful, because the German brand also proposes this access engine with the Touring family body for an additional 2,000 euros.
Taking into account everything we have told you, the BMW 316d Mild Hybrid, with the eight-speed automatic transmission, could satisfy a large number of consumers for its multiple qualities. So we only have to ask ourselves: should the manufacturer encourage its commercialization in the Spanish market?
