Weekly Treasure: Lister Jaguar XJS Le Mans Spec – CarBuzz

UK-based Lister Motor Company has been modifying Jaguars for years. It even unleashed its own homologated bespoke GT sports car, the Lister Storm, in 1993. Those who’ve kept tabs on the company have seen its latest creations, including the Jaguar F-Pace SVR-based 666-horsepower Lister Stealth and the equally powerful F-Type convertible, the LFT 666. But there’s another absolutely wild creation that needs to be shown because many readers may not have been born when it was revealed.

The 1990 Lister MKIII “Le Mans” is a heavily modified Jaguar XKS with a bored-out 7.0-liter V12 engine paired to two (that’s right, two) superchargers for a total of 604 hp. Oh, and this twin-supercharged V12 Jag is has a six-speed manual.

This upsurge in output required many engine and structural modifications so that the big coupe wouldn’t rip itself apart. The fuel injection system received four additional injectors with throttle bodies and the engine management system was altered. The crankshaft and oil system received some attention as well. A new suspension was installed and AP Racing brakes were installed at all four wheels. There’s also a widebody kit that does a fantastic job of making the XJS look ultra-special.

These improvements all come in handy when drivers go from 0-60 mph in just 4 seconds flat and cruise to a top speed in excess of 200 mph. Only around 90 “Le Mans” spec examples were made and now one of them is up for sale on 4 Star Classics.

Finished in Moose Green Metallic and riding on 17-inch Lister alloy wheels, there are reportedly only a few minor exterior imperfections, but no scratches and the bumpers are damage-free. Inside is Parchment Lister leather upholstery and an exterior-matching green dashboard, Recaro front seats, a leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel, Lister’s own analog gauges, Walnut trim, an Alpine cassette radio, and a brick-sized old school car phone. Like with any XJS, rear seats exist but it’d be punishment for a full-sized adult to be there for long.

There’s no question this is a truly special find and the price tag isn’t completely unreasonable at £69,995, or about $97,500 according to the latest exchange rates.
