In total, BMW has invested around 400 million euros in the iX in Dingolfing. In the work, the proportion of electrified cars now rise quickly: The eight percent of the previous year should be doubled this year, as the group announced on Friday. Half of the cars from Dingolfing should be electrified by the middle of the decade. BMW did not name specific production targets for the iX.
The number of jobs related to electromobility in Dingolfing is expected to rise to around 2000, said production director Milan Nedeljkovic. However, 95 percent of the employees would probably come from the previous workforce.
In the long term, Nedeljkovic assumes a balanced need for employees in view of the transformation to electromobility. One of the reasons for this is likely to be that BMW maintains a relatively high level of vertical integration with electric cars. It is comparable to the level in internal combustion engines or even slightly higher.
