Lloyd Motor Group has bought the Jaguar Land Rover dealership in York from Inchcape for an undisclosed sum.
The acquisition increases the number of Lloyd Jaguar Land Rover retailers to six, with York joining Ripon Land Rover, Carlisle Land Rover, Kelso Land Rover and Carlisle Jaguar.
Lloyd Motor Group, founded in 1976, operates in twenty-nine locations across Northern England and Southern Scotland, holding BMW, Mini, JLR, Kia and Volvo franchises.
It also has motorcycle franchises for BMW and Honda.
It is ranked 31 in the Motor Trader Top 200 Dealer Groups with annual turnover of £558.7m and pre tax profits of £8.3m in the year to December 2019. It employs over 1,000 staff.
The disposal by Inchcape is one of the latest in a series as the group turns increasingly to focus on distribution. It currently distributes JLR vehicles in Colombia, Estonia, Finland, Hong Kong, Latvia, Lithuania, Kenya, Macau, Poland and Thailand. It retails JLR vehicles in Russia and the UK.
“The acquisition offers an exciting opportunity for Lloyd Motor Group to strengthen and expand its offering in Yorkshire”, said Rob Lindsay, franchise director of Lloyd Motor Group.
“We are recognised as an award-winning Group with Jaguar Land Rover UK. We aim to bring that unique Lloyd customer experience to York and take full advantage of the state-of-the-art Jaguar Land Rover facilities already there.
“Our strategy is to lead the market and deliver exceptional customer experiences, every time”.
Bryan Lloyd, managing director of Lloyd Motor Group, said: “At the heart of Lloyd Motor Group’s brand lie our values.
“They drive our operating principles, our ambitions, and they’re fundamental to the way we work. We look forward to welcoming our new colleagues and customers in Yorkshire and demonstrating this.”
