Mazzanti Working On New Corvette-Powered Supercar With 761 Horsepower – CarBuzz

And hand-built Italian styling.

On the list of small European supercar manufacturers you probably haven’t heard of, Mazzanti Automobili will be quite high up. The Italian company was founded back in 2002, and for as long as we’ve been covering cars has only produced several versions of one model called the Evantra. We tend to lose track of automakers like this, but Mazzanti just popped back on the radar with a new project dubbed, Evantra Pura (the Italian word for purity).

Mazzanti issued a teaser showing design sketches of the new car, and it doesn’t look dissimilar from the original Evantra, first shown in 2011. That doesn’t mean you should click off this article, though, because the Evantra Pura should have some bonkers performance specifications.

The Italian automaker isn’t giving much away, but says “raw, powerful, and agile are the words that will best characterize [its] newest hypercar creation. For the driver it will mean pleasure without compromise.” Mazzanti adds, “patience is needed for just a little longer,” as the car will launch by the end of 2021 and the “specification will be formidable.”

“When it arrives, you will know it, and it will overwhelm you,” Mazzanti says in its press release. We’ll take the company’s word for it because some of its previous models already boast eye-popping performance. Mazzanti traditionally uses engines from the Chevrolet Corvette, and this latest model is expected to use the 6.2-liter LT2 unit from the current C8 model, tuned to dish out 761 horsepower.

But unlike Chevy, Mazzanti will offer its mid-engined creation with a seven-speed manual transmission for buyers who like to row their own gears. According to the company’s website, the Evantra Pura hits 62 mph in just 2.9 seconds and can reach a 224 mph top speed. This being a small boutique automaker, only five cars will be produced per year, with each one receiving extensive customization from Mazzanti’s atelier.
