Massive road closures as storm blows through Iowa – KCRG

GRINNELL, Iowa (KCRG) – Officials have reported a multitude of accidents and closures caused by the storms and high winds that have passed through Iowa earlier today.

Grinnel Fire Department has confirmed at least two semi-trucks have blown over on I-80 due to high winds. An Iowa State Patrol trooper posted pictures of a box truck with its top ripped open along Interstate 80 in Adair County, and the Iowa DOT has already responded to three non-wind-related crashes on I-80 in Iowa City, one of which was a rollover crash. There are also reports of a semi-rolled over on 151 near Walford.

A traffic signal mast/arm is down and blocking Asbury Road at the Asbury Road and JFK Road intersection in Dubuque. Please avoid this area until temporary traffic control is in place. Staff are responding to the issue.

The Iowa DOT has an up-to-date list of accidents and road closures here.
