An electric car capable of driving 1,000 kilometers without recharging? It is a bit like the Holy Grail of which all manufacturers dream, which would remove one of the main current obstacles to purchase: the fear of running out of fuel. By presenting a prototype displaying such a performance at the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Mercedes-Benz therefore caused a sensation.

According to the German manufacturer, the concept car Mercedes Vision EQXX can travel 1,000 kilometers with a single charge, without the size of the battery having been increased: it announces a capacity of “less than 100 kWh”, equivalent to that of Tesla the most efficient. With 100 kWh batteries, the Model S Plaid + thus promise a distance of 840 kilometers without recharging according to the WLTP standards in force (without wind or heating, at an average speed of 50 km / h).
