There’s no shortage of uber-powerful electric hypercars at the moment. Well-heeled buyers can already choose from the Lotus Evija, the Aspark Owl and the Rimac Nevera – but that hasn’t stopped the Austrian start-up brand Deus Automobiles from adding to the market.
Deus has been around since 2020, but the company decided to fly under the radar until it had something to show. This new electric hypercar will be its fledgling project – and the firm has pulled in some big names for the occasion, drawing on the engineering expertise of Williams and the artistic prowess of Italdesign.
None of the companies involved have confirmed any technical specifications for the new electric hypercar, but it’ll almost certainly be underpinned by Williams’ latest battery packs and EV management systems. The engineering firm has already proved its worth in the field, supplying the battery systems for every car on the Formula E grid between 2014 and 2018.
We’ve had scarce few details about the car’s styling, too – this artistically framed teaser image is all we have to go off for the time being. But, it looks like Deus will apply a similar design philosophy to the Lotus Evija, with those enormous outlets at the rear of the car working to cool the electric powertrain and maybe even generate a bit of downforce.
The announcement certainly leaves us with more questions than answers, but Deus has promised it’ll reveal some more information about its new hypercar shortly. It’s scheduled to make its debut in April at the New York International Auto Show – which means we might see it on the road by the end of 2022 if we’re lucky.
