A host of developments took place in the Indian automotive scene in the past week (May 30 – June 3), including a high-profile EV launch, an interior leak of one of the most highly-anticipated Indian cars, and the commencement of bookings for one of the top-selling sub-compact SUVs, to name a few.

New Hyundai Venue facelift bookings open
Hyundai has officially commenced the bookings for the 2022 Venue facelift, all set to be launched in the country on June 16. The company has confirmed that the new Venue will be offered with some new first-in-segment features like Home to car (H2C) with Alexa and Google Voice Assistant, 60+ Bluelink connected features, and a 2-step rear reclining seat.
Kia EV6 launch
Kia has launched the EV6 in India at INR59.90 lakh for GT Line RWD and INR64.95 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom) for GT Line AWD variant. While the carmaker allotted 100 direct import units of the luxury electric car for India, the company has received over 3x bookings for the EV6, and is planning to bring in more units soon.
Mahindra XUV300 Electric launch confirmed
Mahindra has confirmed its plans of introducing a fully-electric version of the XUV300 sub-compact SUV in India in the first quarter of 2023. The XUV300 electric will measure around 4.2 metres in length, slightly longer than the sub-4m ICE XUV300. It could get a 40 kWh battery pack for a range of about 350 km.
2022 Mahindra Scorpio-N interior leaked
The new Mahindra Scorpio-N is all set to be launched in India on June 27, but ahead of the full unveil, the car’s interior was leaked online revealing features like an 8-inch infotainment screen, dual-zone climate control, a brand-new multi-function steering wheel, a semi-digital driver’s display, and so on.
Tata finishes second in overall monthly sales (May 2022)
Tata Motors overtook Hyundai to become the second biggest car manufacturer in the Indian market in terms of domestic PV sales. Tata sold 43,340 units in the month of May 2022 – 1,047 units more than what Hyundai could manage. The company currently has a market share of 14.7%, just behind Maruti Suzuki.
Skoda Slavia price hiked
The Skoda Slavia sedan has received its first-ever price hike since its launch in February 2022. The price hike ranges from INR30,000 to INR60,000, and the C-segment sedan is now priced from INR10.99 lakh, going all the way up to INR18.39 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom).
