The manufacturer Tesla has brought back the alternative autopilot version of the FSD.
Actually, there were two versions of the autopilot: Enhanced Autopilot and the most recently available FSD autopilot. Apart from the money, the difference lies in the possible features. It’s the stripped down version that’s now available Tesla is available again.
The Enhanced Autopilot system does not have the highway assistant, automatic lane change or parking assistance, but the system costs only half of the FSD system. The Enhanced Autopilot costs $6,000. Originally, the Enhanced Autopilot was supposed to cost $5,000, but in 2019 the system was phased out. Enhanced Autopilot features adaptive cruise control and lane centering.
In the beta version, the system with the misleading name Full Self Driving (FSD) via red light and stop sign recognition and autosteer in cities, which is to be expanded in the future with the FSD. The FSD system can also be used as subscription for $199 and the Enhanced Autopilot for $99 per month.
However, none of the systems mentioned actually allow autonomous driving. These are assistance systems that do not allow you to take your hands off the steering wheel. Neither system reached level 3, like the S class of Mercedes Benz.
It is clear to many why Tesla is taking this step: the price of the FSD system at US$ 12,000 is very high. Especially since the competition is asking for significantly moderate prices. The advanced driver assistance system is $1,700 for the BMW iX and $3,400 for the Polestar 2.
