Subaru Tecnica International Expands the STI Gallery in Mitaka, Tokyo
Tokyo, September 20, 2019 – Subaru Corporation announced that its motorsports subsidiary Subaru Tecnica International (STI) *1 has completed expansion of the STI Gallery located in Mitaka, Tokyo, The new Gallery will be open to the public from Saturday, September 21.
Established in 2009, the STI Gallery has exhibited the company’s historical items, especially its iconic vehicles such as Impreza WRC models which competed in the World Rally Championship and a special edition model Impreza 22B STI Version. The Gallery was updated in the beginning of 2019 with additional display such as the trophies STI has won in its motorsports activities, company’s latest history timelines with milestones and the walls where visitors can write their messages to STI. Since then, a lot of Subaru enthusiasts, including those who come from overseas, have visited the Gallery.
To offer the special experience to visitors, more memorial items related to STI are newly added to display. The Gallery is also designed to be able to hold various STI special exhibitions or events.
The Gallery is open on both weekdays and weekends*2. On weekends, a special STI ambassador will be on site to provide information to visitors.
STI aims to make this Gallery a special place where Subaru/STI can communicate and engage with Subaru/STI fans and any other car enthusiasts from all over the world.
To commemorate the expansion of the Gallery, STI holds a special exhibition “Discover STI vol. 1 ‘The early years of STI’ 1988-1998” so visitors can feel STI’s progress in the early days. The exhibition highlights the early years of STI when its first President Ryuichiro Kuze led the company by showing panels with stories as well as his personal items.
SUBARU and STI will continue to offer “Enjoyment and Peace of Mind” through the efforts centered on vehicle development and tireless challenges in motorsports field.

Subaru Exhibition Outline of the 46th Tokyo Motor Show 2019
– All-New Second Generation Levorg Prototype to Make World Debut –
Subaru Corporation today announced its exhibition outline of the 46th Tokyo Motor Show 2019 (Press Days: October 23-24, 2019; General Admission: October 25- November 4). Subaru will showcase its future vision of “There will be cars that can make our lives even better” through the vehicles on display and its entire booth.
Subaru President Tomomi Nakamura will hold a press conference on Wednesday, October 23 from 14:00 at the Subaru booth (AOMI Exhibition Halls). Video of the press conference will be posted on https://www.youtube.com/user/SUBARUOnTube.

◆ All-New Levorg Prototype
Subaru will unveil the all-new second generation Levorg for the first time in the world. The original Levorg debuted in 2014.
Taking full advantage of its latest technologies, Subaru envisions “a future that everyone can enjoy driving at the full, at their will” with this all-new Levorg prototype, in an era where autonomous driving technology is widely spreading.

◆ WRX STI EJ20 Final Edition
Subaru will end production of the “EJ20” horizontally-opposed engine, which has been one of the main power units since its debut in 1989, by the end of March 2020. Consequently, it will stop taking orders for the current WRX STI model equipped with EJ20 engine and sold in Japan market by the end of the calendar year 2019. A special edition WRX STI “EJ20 Final Edition”, which the prototype of the model will be showcased at Tokyo Motor Show, has been developed to commemorate the history of EJ20 engine.
Started with the first generation Legacy in 1989, EJ20 engine has been used on a wide variety of Subaru models and also powered racing cars competed in world class competition such as World Rally Championship, Nürburgring 24 Hour Race and so on. “EJ20 Final Edition” features special items such as a balanced EJ20 engine and gold-painted BBS 19-inch alloy wheels to commemorate the last model that uses the EJ20 engine which has powered a series of Subaru models.

(Note: WRX STI models with EJ20 engines are currently sold in Japan only. STI models sold in overseas markets are powered by different types of engines and production of those engines will continue.)

Three years after its debut, the fifth generation Impreza has received major update including redesigned front bumper and headlights as well as improved driving performance with retuned suspension. With standard EyeSight Touring Assist across the line, the overall safety of Impreza has also been improved.

◆ SUBARU XV Advance
As a crossover SUV, SUBARU XV integrates urban feel exterior design, go-anywhere capability and superior safety performance. With this year’s update, Subaru will offer more trim levels of SUBARU XV powered by e-BOXER, a power unit combining the Subaru’s signature Boxer engine with an electrification technology. With e-BOXER, it brings enjoyment in a variety of scenes, from city driving to rough road driving, through responsive throttle and linear acceleration thanks to the power assist from an electric motor. In addition to improved overall safety thanks to standard EyeSight Touring Assist, SUBARU XV also gained rough road capability enhancement with updated X-MODE with two drive mode configuration.

SUBARU VIZIV* Adrenaline Concept is the first concept vehicle designed under the new design philosophy “BOLDER” which emphasizes key elements of the Subaru design language in a bolder way. Combining utility that supports active lifestyles with off-road driving capability that delivers enjoyment to go anywhere, the VIZIV Adrenaline Concept stimulates the driver’s mind and encourages them to “drive freely in mother nature.” The VIZIV Adrenaline Concept was first unveiled at Geneva International Motor Show 2019.

Subaru Provides Aid for Disaster Relief in Northern Kyushu and Eastern Japan
Tokyo, October 9, 2019 – Subaru Corporation extends its deepest condolences to those affected by the torrential rain in August in and around northern Kyushu and the Typhoon Faxai (Typhoon Number 15) which struck eastern Japan in September.
Subaru Corporation is providing the following support for local relief efforts.
■ Subaru will donate through the Japanese Red Cross two million yen each to support relief efforts in the respective regions.
Additionally, through the Japanese Red Cross, Subaru will make donations from its matching gift program in which the Company matches contributions by its employees.
■ Subaru will donate through the Central Community Chest of Japan one million yen each to assist relief efforts including activities by volunteers and non-profit organizations in the respective regions.
Subaru sincerely wishes for the earliest possible recovery of the affected areas.

Subaru Corporation Receives Securities Analysts’
Award for Excellence in Corporate Disclosure for 6th Consecutive Year
Tokyo, October 10, 2019 – Subaru Corporation has been selected as the top company in the “automobile, auto parts and tires” category of the 2019 Awards for Excellence in Corporate Disclosure presented by the Securities Analysts Association of Japan (SAAJ). Subaru received the highest marks among the 20 companies in the category that were evaluated. This is the 6th consecutive year that Subaru has been ranked at the top in the category.
The Excellence in Corporate Disclosure Awards have been presented by the SAAJ every year since 1995 with the goal of improving corporate information disclosure. This year marks the 25th year that the award program has been held. Companies are evaluated by securities analysts of each sector on the basis of the following five criteria:
1) management’s stance on investor relations, the function of a corporation’s investor relations department, and basic stance of a corporation’s investor relations; 2) disclosures through briefings, interviews, and explanatory materials; 3) fairness in disclosure; 4) disclosure related to corporate governance; and 5) voluntary disclosure that conforms to conditions of each industry.
As the company’s management philosophy, Subaru aims to be “a compelling company with a strong market presence” built upon its customer-first principle.

[ IT Strategy Division ]
The Digital Innovation Dept. has been newly established with the aims of reforming business processes and creating / promoting opportunities for new business innovation by making strategic use of the latest digital technology and data.
The Cybersecurity Dept. has been newly established.
Pursuant to the Company’s Basic Cybersecurity Policy, the department will engage in promoting activities to protect Subaru Group’s conceivable products, services, and information assets from threats arising in the course of the business activities of Subaru Corporation and its group companies.
[ Manufacturing Division ]
The changes have been made with the aims of enhancing Subaru’s manufacturing engineering and optimizing the span of management in the organization. The newly-established departments will exclusively engage in their respective areas of expertise.
The changes have been made to clearly identify the areas of responsibility of each unit.
