The sports car builder Porsche intends to expand its Board of Directors from seven to eight members. Sajjad Khan (48) could be added to the board, the company announced on Thursday. This was decided by the supervisory board. However, it is not yet clear when exactly a final decision can be made about Khan’s appointment.
Born in Pakistan with a German passport, he is an internationally recognized expert in the development of intelligent software in vehicles. As of August 2021, Khan had been with for over six years Mercedes Benz active – most recently as a member of the Divisional Board of Mercedes-Benz Cars. As Chief Technology Officer, he was responsible for development in the areas of Connectivity, Autonomous, Shared & Services and Electric (CASE).
“We are convinced that the planned expansion of our Executive Board will further promote the successful development of our company,” said Wolfgang Porsche (79), Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the car group.
Porsche CEO Oliver Blume (54) welcomes “having a proven digital expert on board in Sajjad Khan”. The IT team will be strengthened at a crucial point, and Khan can also do that Volkswagen-Support the group in an advisory capacity.
“Greatest Transformation”
“Our industry is experiencing what is probably the greatest transformation in its history. We set the strategic course very early on. Our focus is now on implementation, which we want to continue to advance together with Khan,” he said Blume, who has headed the Volkswagen Group alongside Porsche since September 1st.
In contrast to Porsche, Blume reduced the size of the board when he took office and streamlined the board from twelve to nine positions.
It is not yet known exactly when Kann, who was also under discussion at the Volkswagen software subsidiary Cariad, will start his new job at Porsche.
