Isotta Fraschini has finally broken cover with their LMH designed by Michelotto and have confirmed their current plan is to debut the car at the Spa 6 Hours in the Hypercar of the 2023 FIA World Endurance Championship.
As reported exclusively by DSC in May, the historic and now revived Italian marque has been developing an LMH concept with the design and engineering support of Michelotto, and with Wiliams Advanced Engineering engaged in developing the aero package.
Also now confirmed is that the car will run a four wheel drive system with hybrid energy deployed via the front axle. The selected internal combustion engine is now confirmed as a 3-litre turbo V6 from a still un-named German OEM supplier.
The official presentation of the car will take place in February at the brand’s new headquarters in Milan. The intention is to miss the opening two rounds of the WEC at Sebring and Portimao, but to join at Spa and contest the centenary Le Mans 24 Hours.
DSC is aware that the originally intended development and first factory driver is likely to be named as part of the driver roster for another WEC Hypercar programme. There is no information as yet on the identity of any team set to field the car in its intended competition programme.
If confirmed Isotta Fraschini would join confirmed entries from Porsche, Toyota, Peugeot, Ferrari, Porsche and Cadillac in the 2023 FIA WEC HyperCar class with Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus expected to return for a limited WEC programme and the Vanwall Vandervell concern of Colin Kolles also stating that they intend to enter.
