The tiresome software problems spoil the good overall impression. A typical evening with the electric ID 4 from Volkswagen: We’re running late, probably won’t be on time, and the navigation system is mandatory on this trip. After getting into the car, we know that it takes an agonizingly long time before voice recognition and route guidance are even ready to go. So let’s drive off and activate voice recognition a little later. Twice she refuses to recognize the destination at all, then the correct address is displayed, but the destination is neither accepted nor is the route calculated. We have to stop, turn off the vehicle and restart until the co-pilot does what it’s supposed to.
