If self-knowledge is really the first step to improvement, the traffic light coalition will move forward. Because the self-awareness is there: It went pretty bad with the heating exchange law. The previous week was “bad”, they say. You have “not given a particularly good picture”, can be heard elsewhere. Everyone agrees: it has to get better, and above all it has to get better at all.

So far, there has been a lot of scolding: from the FDP about the bill by the Green Economics Minister Robert Habeck, and from Habeck about the FDP. Last week, the minister even accused the coalition partner of “breach of word” because the FDP prevented the law from getting its first reading in the Bundestag as agreed. Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD), who characterizes himself as a strong leader, only very quietly expressed the wish that the Building Energy Act be on the agenda in the next week of meetings, which begins on June 12th. Efforts are now being made to limit the damage.
