Even almost eight years after it became known, the diesel scandal hasn’t let go of the car industry. Ex-Audi CEO Rupert Stadler (60) is just waiting on his judgement, he will most likely get away with no prison time.
So far, Stadler’s former competitor BMW has navigated the misery almost unscathed. The German Environmental Aid (DUH) is now shaking that up. In tests, a BMW 318d has the permitted nitrogen oxide limits around that 49 times torn – new negative record.
In return, BMW accuses the DUH of “deliberately provoking extreme measurements with unrealistic driving situations”. The allegations have already been refuted. In Munich they should be prepared for stubborn opponents. This is shown not least by one of our topics of the week:
