There’s Something Up There – Harrison Ford and Ethann Isidore in Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Destiny.

Not only Harrison Ford should look younger than he is in “Indiana Jones and the Wheel of Destiny”. The whole film relies on de-aging. It’s not always good for him.

The aliens were definitely not a good idea. Especially not in combination with KGB agents. In this respect, the producers and authors learned from the fourth Indiana Jones film, which bore the additional title “Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”. Well, in “The Wheel of Destiny”, everything should be like before, like 42 years ago. De-aging is therefore not just the process used to transform the soon to be 81-year-old Harrison Ford into a younger version of himself – at least for the opulent opening sequence.

The whole film wants to look like it did back then, without sacrificing the advances of digital. This is logical because George Lucas and Steven Spielberg were already trying to revive memories of their childhood adventure films in the 1980s. The film is smart enough to show Ford as an old wimp about to retire after the overture that leads back to 1944.
