The draft law has gotten better, but it’s not good yet: That was the conclusion of the experts who took a stand on Monday in the Bundestag on the amendment to the Building Energy Act from the Economics Ministry of Robert Habeck (Greens) and the Building Ministry of Klara Geywitz (SPD). There was particular praise for the fact that the municipalities first have to do heat planning before the rules for the installation of new heating systems for property owners come into force. There was criticism above all of the deadlines provided and also of tenant protection.

A number of the associations summoned by the parliamentary groups initially criticized the time pressure under which this hearing took place. The parliamentary groups only sent the revised draft law to the Bundestag administration on Friday afternoon, and the Bundestag is expected to pass the law on Thursday.
