The number is probably far too low: the interactive map lists 86 companies from the Rhine-Main region that either use artificial intelligence (AI) themselves or offer applications with these trained systems. In the spring, the Hessian Digital Ministry released the overview to invite people on a “journey of discovery” through Hessen’s AI ecosystem and to demonstrate that the next digital era in the state has long since begun. In the meantime, it seems, it could be easier to list the companies where this is not the case.

Because since the American software company OpenAI presented its Generative Pre-Trained Transformer (GPT) and above all its ChatGPT program, which is freely accessible to everyone, everyone seems to have been gripped by AI fever. At least the region is not entirely unprepared. Because even if only the Digital Minister Kristina Sinemus (CDU) dares to predict Hessen’s future as “Silicon Valley of Europe”: There are a large number of companies, start-ups, research institutes and initiatives in the Rhine-Main region that are involved with deal with the topic of AI.
