How are the number of cases currently developing in Germany?
The number of Covid-19 diseases is increasing slightly again after the low level in the summer. The 7-day incidence has been rising again since the beginning of July. It is currently 7, meaning that seven new Covid-19 cases per 100,000 inhabitants were transmitted to the Robert Koch Institute in the last week.
For comparison: In late summer 2022, the 7-day incidence was around 250. Since testing is no longer mandatory in Germany, it may be that the current number of unreported cases is higher. Christian Karagiannidis, a specialist in pulmonology and intensive care medicine in Cologne, says he is now paying less attention to the incidences because corona is now just one of many respiratory diseases.
