The truck builder Daimler trucks has found a new head of finance: Eva Scherer will succeed Jochen Goetz, who died last year, on April 1st. Scherer was most recently Head of Investor Relations at Siemens, where she began her professional career as a trainee in 2003.
Member of the “Young Global Leader” elite circle
In addition to technical expertise, the company attaches particular importance to cosmopolitanism, diversity and willingness to change, explained Daimler supervisory board chairman Joe Kaeser (66), former Siemens CEO, on Thursday. “Eva Scherer brings these qualities with her in a convincing way.”
Before taking on responsibility for maintaining relationships with investors, Scherer was CFO of Siemens’ Rail Infrastructure and Mobility Software division for two years. The 40-year-old business economist has been a member of the “Young Global Leader” forum, an offshoot of the World Economic Forum, since 2019. In the elite circle, future managers are trained with a focus on sustainability.
Scherer’s predecessor, Jochen Goetz, died in an accident in August. He had died of an allergic shock to a wasp sting, as Kaeser had announced. Since then, CEO Martin Daum (64) has been in charge of the finance department on an interim basis.
Daum explained that Scherer could provide important impetus with her broad financial experience in a global company in a similar industry. Daimler Truck will benefit from this on the path to electromobility and digitalization.
