Dear reader,
Even if the train doesn’t run again, something is moving in Germany. Hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets last weekend.
Some top business leaders took part in the demonstration, and some raised their voices against racism on social networks. Hardly anyone is as clear as Holger Engelmann (58), boss of the automotive supplier Webasto. “Ass huh, Zäng ussenander”, he demands in Cologne dialect. “Ass up, teeth apart” against right-wing slogans, exclusion, discrimination. One can only hope that the momentum strengthens.
Michael Brecht (58), head of the works council at Daimler Truck, also calls for an attitude. “Right-wing nationalism, linked to the AfD, must not be tolerated; it endangers our democracy,” he says – and asks in the manager magazine interview also clear industrial policy demands.
